Bio
Family:

I have been married to Dan Newkirk, Litchfield Middle School P.E. teacher and coach of various sports, for 19 years. We have been blessed with two wonderful children, Betsy and Seth! To add to the chaos of our lives, we also have two dogs and a cat.

What I like about my job:

Having had a previous career, I definitely value the choice I have made to spend my days working with children. I had the opportunity to substitute teach in a variety of age group levels, and I truly believe 5th grade is the BEST place to be! There is nothing quite like them: they are old enough to be somewhat independent and have fun, but yet they are old enough that they still respect teachers and want to please you. I also enjoy my colleagues that I have the opportunity to work with everyday. I could not think of any better group of people to work with to help shape and mold young minds! While it is often a tough job, the payoff of seeing students succeed and go on to become successful young adults is well worth it.

Hobbies:

Most of my free time is spent following my children and husband to their various sporting events: volleyball, football, wrestling, track, and softball. I LOVE every minute spent cheering on the Panthers! Over the past few years, I have also had the crazy notion to take up jogging and have successfully completed three half-marathons. In any spare time, I love being outside and also spending some quiet time reading.
